Project Backpack(“PBP”) is a subsidiary of H.E.L.P. for Youth Canada Society. It is a community-based campaign that facilitates the hands-on charitable efforts of local schools, clubs, small and large companies who want to make a difference in the lives of Vancouver’s unhoused youth.
PBP offers a simple & low cost way to show empathy towards these vulnerable youth.
PBP donates the backpacks, then donors fill them with items that help street youth survive. These packs are delivered to various youth agencies in Vancouver for distribution.
The program is ideal for community-service campaigns in schools & seasonal-giving campaigns for companies.
Anyone can participate and every little bit helps. To date we’ve had participation from students, small and large corporations, clubs and individuals.

The Global Nomads from Mulgrave School, along with their educator Mr Wilson, delivered 37 backpacks to the Hollyburn Family Services Youth house yesterday. They gathered items from their school campaign and raised funds to shop for additional items to fill the packs. A great way to help youth in need and very much appreciated. Thanks again!

Today is #GivingTuesday, a chance to show your support for charities and non-profits through a global generosity movement that empowers communities and people.
We are raising funds for Project Backpack and the H.E.L.P. Bursary Fund to continue our work to help un-housed and at-risk youth. Please join us in our efforts by donating and making a real difference in the lives of these youth.

They will be part of a school-wide Project Backpack campaign with the aim to fill 20+ backpacks to make life on the streets a little better for unhoused youth. Thank you to Ms. Safarik, and the school, for having us back again this year!

A six-year research project from Cornell University revealed a surprisingly simple path to happiness and well-being: focusing on contributing to others
• The study found that when individuals, particularly from Gen Z, were encouraged to make a contribution to their community or themselves, even with a modest amount of money, they experienced significant improvements in their sense of purpose, well-being, and emotional balance. Youth helping Youth through Project Backpack benefits both those giving and those receiving!
