Project Backpack(“PBP”) is a subsidiary of H.E.L.P. for Youth Canada Society. It is a community-based campaign that facilitates the hands-on charitable efforts of local schools, clubs, small and large companies who want to make a difference in the lives of Vancouver’s unhoused youth.
PBP offers a simple & low cost way to show empathy towards these vulnerable youth.
PBP donates the backpacks, then donors fill them with items that help street youth survive. These packs are delivered to various youth agencies in Vancouver for distribution.
The program is ideal for community-service campaigns in schools & seasonal-giving campaigns for companies.
Anyone can participate and every little bit helps. To date we’ve had participation from students, small and large corporations, clubs and individuals.

Hot off the press!! – our poster for the 21st Annual Project Backpack Campaign. One of the questions we are asked most often is “what should we put in the packs?” So we decided to put it in big, colourful letters right on our poster. We hope you like it and we hope you will join us for this year’s campaign to help unhoused and at-risk youth!

This week is Homelessness Action week in BC and Metro Vancouver. It is designed to raise awareness about unhoused individuals and work to help them. That’s exactly what we do at Project Backpack and we ask you to join us! How can you help? You too can run a Project Backpack initiative at your school or club or business and collect items to fill backpacks. We provide the packs, as well as posters and information, and we collect and deliver them to youth service centers around Greater Vancouver. They are then distributed to youth in need. A simple hands on way to take action!!

Project Backpack dropped off 40 backpacks to the Global Nomads at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. They will run their campaign later this month and fill the packs with items for The Hollyburn Society and their Youth Safe House. Thank you!

Project Backpack is back after the summer and yesterday we kicked off our 21st Annual Campaign with a virtual presentation with the Global Nomads at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver.
